This week has been positively CRAZY. On Monday I dropped off a couple of jackets at the dry cleaner's and went to get some chollah from the bakery and chicken from the butcher's on the way. I've got to say the smell of meat and all the chopping of it made me feel a tad sick somehow... Obviously been a vegetarian for too long xP This special arrangement was because on Tuesday began the fast and it's traditional to eat a little fancier supper before. Well, I was cutting veggies when yet another freezer guy came. Fifteen minutes before I had to go and pick the kids up from school. And Claire was running errands. Because British Gas engineers are not allowed in the house by themselves we had to swiftly swap places. Claire started to drive back immediately and I made sure I was completely ready and when she phoned, I flew out the door and onto the road. Very helpfully it was of course a rainy day.
Well, I was on time to pick up Ethan and his classmate Solomon with whom he had a playdate with. At home it was a tiny bit of a chaos. Anthony's niece was there to be babysat and a previous teacher of the children was visiting with her baby. I wonder what the seemingly shy Solomon thought about the whole situation... xD He did tell me proudly that he'd lost his first tooth that day which I found quite funny :)
Tiistai oli aika, no, sanotaanko vaikka hurja.

Tuesday was, well, let's say frantic. A relative (I'm not certain whose cousin she was exactly...) was visiting from the States and we had supper together after which the adults left to the synagogue due to the beginning of the fast, and I was left alone with the three children. They were allowed to play with Legos for a while and then I had to bathe them. (I learnt that it's wrong to say "to get in the tub", instead I must say "to get in the bath". Okay, it's like that in Finnish, too, even though there's a difference in meaning.) Somehow miraculously I got them to clear up after themselves and upstairs after quite a lot of fuss, though. But then the bathing. Jacob insisted on getting in the tub (ha, I used it like that now xP) at the same time with the others, and there they were with their feet in each other's mouths and fingers in eyes. Giggling, splashing and wriggling. At some point I just noted that if three kids are shouting simultaneously, there's no point in trying to make them shut up. Anyway, I managed to brush Daisy and Ethan's teeth even though I'd got soaked before it and probably gone at least half deaf. And had a few heart episodes because I was frightened that they'd hit their heads on the shower or hurt each other. Well, the others had got up and left and when Ethan got out, he slipped and hit his head on the edge of the tub for a bit and started to bawl.
I was utterly shocked, I wrapped a towel around him and took him into my lap and tried to blow on the fortunately non-existent wound on the back of his head. He sobbed that he wants Jacob. Soon Jacob and Daisy arrived, the former carrying a toilet roll. "This roll is magical, it's been in my cupboard for ages and it heals all wounds", Jacob announced. Daisy started to sing something vaguely and Jacob mumbled something through the roll into the spot on Ethan's head that had hit the tub (Ethan had in fact stopped crying before this so he wasn't actually that hurt after all, fortunately). I felt like crying because I was moved by how the siblings came to the rescue and especially Jacob was a responsible and lovely brother when he was needed. And he was indeed needed. When Daisy and Ethan were going to bed, they both wanted ticklebacks by Jacob. Just when I had turned the lights out, Ethan said that he was sad because Mommy wasn't home. My words presumably wouldn't have been enough but Jacob climbed into the bed next to Ethan and there they lay under the same blanket when he beckoned me to leave. I formed a thank you on my lips and disappeared upstairs.
Mua jäi vaan harmittamaan, että vanhempien tultua kotiin se lähti alas just ennen, ku tuli Drag Me Down, jota se odotti :( Mä kiitin onneani, et seuraavana keskiviikkona oli Jom Kippur eikä mun tarvinnu herää aikasin, koska oltiin Stinan kaa keikkaeuforiassa vielä pari tuntia sen loppumisen jälkeen. Ihana lopetus jokseenkin kaoottiselle päivälle <3

I'm trying to keep this section short even though I could talk about this subject perpetually x3 After I'd made it to my loft, I turned on the computer, logged into Skype and looked for the Apple Music Festival live concert on iTunes. Little Mix had already started and Stina was on the other side of the screen. Because the Yankee slept in Jacob's room, he had been moved to the kids' room and he couldn't read there, so I let him come to my bed, and he didn't mind that I chatted quietly with Stina. He even waved her with enthusiasm :D When Little Mix finished and a same set of commercials rolled on repeat, Jacob wondered what I was doing. I explained that I can't watch Little Mix again since the concert is live and soon One Direction would be on stage. We decided to share earphones and Stina swapped to English and when 1D started, we watched the gig together. I don't think I've had that much unexpected fun in a long time!! I warned Jacob in advance that I'd turn into a true fangirl in a minute but he didn't mind. He had already been admiring my Narry wall and at some point he said that Niall is super cute, like a baby (I'm not sure if my humongous heart-shaped eyes had any effect on the matter xD) and we fangirled/boyed him together. I even pointed out to Stina that I was happy because even if I couldn't squeeze Niall, I had my own cuddle buddy next to me and I pulled Jacob closer. I only was a little sorry that after the parents got home, he went down just before they played Drag Me Down which he had been waiting for :( I thanked my luck that Wednesday was Yom Kippur and I didn't have to wake up early since we were experiencing a gig euphoria with Stina for a couple of hours after it had finished. A wonderful ending to a somewhat chaotic day <3 And now I've got my own Niall confidant here as well ;)

On Wednesday the whole family went to the synagogue (aka shawl) and I went jogging. It was fun to run into the host mom of a French au pair (with whom I had went to a café the previous day and had the weirdest blueberry muffin drowned in warm custard), she was waving happily to me on their way to the shawl. At one o'clock the children came back bringing with them the children of Roberta's host family, three boys who are the same ages as "my kids". We were supposed to babysit the kids with Roberta when they got on with whatever. It was rather difficult because I felt bad about leaving Ethan and Oscar on their own but because the bigger kids were on the trampoline, they had to be supervised. Well, we divided our forces with Roberta and I checked on the little ones. I don't know why Ethan was having such a horrifyingly bad day (he blamed a bad night's sleep) but he said he hated Oscar and claimed that Oscar doesn't want to play anything before he had even asked him. I felt so awful for Oscar who desperately tried to tell the raging Ethan that he's not acting fair and he wondered why Ethan was in such a strange mood. I even had to persuade Ethan to come out of the loo where he had hidden and wouldn't let anybody in but pulled the door shut. Somewhere along the way happened a change of mind and they played together with a rail track. (And when the guests had to leave it was most unwanted. Go figure.) Since nobody wanted to play Cluedo with Daisy, Roberta and I promised to play with her and then suddenly all the boys became interested. Obviously it didn't work with two 8- and two 11-year-olds... The game ended when nearly everybody had "accidentally" seen other's cards and Theo got so bored that he wanted to see the solution before the end of the game. Well, the boys left, actually they should've gone before and we could've followed them to their place in order to give Claire and Anthony a moment of peace but a communication breakdown (or a loss of thought on my part) had occurred, so we just stayed and played another round of Cluedo just the three of us, Daisy, Jacob and I. That went remarkably better. I took care of dinner because the parents returned to the shawl and even though I had to put Ethan on time-out because he messed around and hurt Daisy while doing that, I succeeded in getting them both into bed before Claire came back to read a bedtime story. Phew what a set of days. I've still got things to tell but I'll leave them for another day and go to sleep.

Mun Narry-seinä ;D (ja vähän muutakin) // My Narry wall ;D (and some other stuff)
No, kyl me sit jakauduttiin Robertan kaa ja mä menin kattoo pienempiä.
