Hölmöjä juttuja // Silly Things

Haastavinta tässä hommassa on tietää, missä menee mun valtuuksien rajat ja miten tulee toimia. Tietenki asiaan vaikuttaa myös se, et mul ei oo lastenhoitokokemusta lainkaan. Claire sanoki, et se oli siltä todellinen uskonloikka ottaa mut, ja Anthony oli kuulemma sanonu, et se on sekasin. Mut oon Clairelle tosi kiitollinen, et se luotti muhun tarpeeks ja oli sitä mieltä, et ei voi oppia muulla tavalla kun kokeilemalla. Mutta siis, takasin asiaan. Esimerkiks eilen Ethanilla oli tosi huono aamu, se vihas vuoroin äitiään, mua ja jopa itteään. Istuin sen kaa keittiön lattialla ja yritin saada sitä syömään aamiaista. Se halus mun menevän pois. Kaadoin sille kuitenki murot kulhoon ja ilmotin sille asiasta. Lähin hetkeks ja kun olin tulossa takas laittaakseni tavaroita pois, Ethan istu syömässä, mut käski mut heti ulos keittiöstä. Törmäsin yläkerrassa Claireen, joka sano, et ei oo 5-vuotiaan asia ajaa mua pois ja et ei kenenkään oo kiva istuu yksin, vaikka kuinka niin sanois. No niin. Olihan toi tavallaan aika ilmiselvää, mut en mä sitä silti tullu ajatelleeks. Aattelin vaa, et jos Ethan ei syö, ku oon läsnä ja syö, kun oon poissa, niin yks plus yks on varmaan kaks ja aamiainen on tärkee syödä. Ja ehkä 5-vuotiaan "jätä mut rauhaan" ei oo ihan sama asia, ku jos parikymppinen sanois niin. Kyl mä opin. Seki tietty hankaloittaa, ku haluun olla kiva sisko, mut samalla pitäis olla tiukka vanhempi.

The most challenging thing about this is knowing where the boundaries of my powers are and how I should handle things. Of course, the fact that I haven't got any childcare experience at all has an effect on the matter. In fact, Claire said that she took a huge leap of faith when she chose me, and Anthony had called her a nutter. But I'm very grateful to Claire that she trusted me enough and thought that there's no way of learning other than trying out. Oh well, back to the subject. For example, yesterday Ethan had a very bad morning, he took turns in hating his mother, me and even himself. I sat with him on the kitchen floor and tried to make him eat his breakfast. He wanted me to go away. I poured his cereal in a bowl after all and informed him about this. I left for a minute and when I was coming back to put away some stuff, Ethan was sitting and eating but told me to go out of the kitchen immediately. I ran into Claire upstairs who said that it's not up to a 5-year-old to drive me away and that it's not nice for anybody to sit by themselves even if they said so. Right. That was quite obvious but still it didn't occur to me. I just figured that if Ethan doesn't eat while I'm around and eats when I'm gone, that's one plus one equals two and it's important to eat breakfast. And maybe "leave me alone" by a 5-year-old is not the same thing compared to a 20-something saying it. I'll learn. That certainly makes things difficult also that I want to be a fun sister but at the same time I'd have to be a strict parent.

Tänään olin kahen ja puolen tunnin lounaalla lähellä asuvan Clairen kaverin italialaisen au pairin kaa. Kuten ajasta voi päätellä, oli tosi mukavaa! Puhuttiin perheistä ja elämäntilanteista ja jaettiin useita mielipiteitä. (Se jopa tykkää One Directionista, jei! ^0^) Mietittiin, että ois huippuu tavata joku vapaapäivä isommalla porukalla ja kehittää jotain ohjelmaa. Jeeeee, alan saada kavereita täällä!!

Today I had a lunch which lasted for two and a half hours with an Italian girl who's the au pair for Claire's friend who lives nearby. As you can guess from the spent time, it was very pleasant! We talked about the families, our life situations and shared many opinions. (She even likes One Direction, yay! ^0^) We thought that it would be amazing to meet up with a bigger group on a day-off and come up with some plans. Wooooo, I'm starting to make friends here!!

Jotta otsikko kävis jotenki enemmän järkeen, täytyy kertoo, et lapset keksi mun sormet. (Claire itse asiassa huomas ne ekana ja kysy, onks lapset ihmetelly niitä.) Jacob huomas mun vääntyneen nimettömän aamiaisella ja kysy, miks se on sellanen. Selitin koko tarinan ja sen kommentti lämmitti sydäntä. "Siistii." Päivällisellä se sit halus, et esittelen kättäni ja Daisyn ja Ethanin mielestä se oli "outo" ja "pelottava". Ethan alko kutsuu sitä, et pidän kättä normaalisti ylhäällä kämmen siihen päin käännettynä "käsijutun tekemiseks". Claire oli järkyttyny sen lasten käytöksestä, mut mä sanoin, et ei mua haittaa. Oon ite niin sinut asian kanssa. Ja jotenki Jacobin suhtautuminen sai mut tuntee itteni erityiseks. Sen mielestä on jännää ja hienoo, et molemmat kädet oli samanlaisia, ikään ku mun "ois tarkotettu olevan sellanen". Vaikka oonki aina aatellu, et oudot kädet vaan täydentää paketin, niin en oo koskaan aatellu noin, mut tästä lähin alan aatella :)

For the title to make more sense, I must tell that the kids discovered my fingers. (Claire actually noticed them first and asked if the kids have wondered about them.) Jacob noticed my bent fourth finger at breakfast and asked why it's like that. I told the whole story and his comment warmed my heart. "Cool." At dinner he wanted me to show my hand and Daisy and Ethan thought it was "weird" and "scary". Ethan started to call me holding my hand up in a normal way with the palm facing him "doing the hand thing". Claire was shocked by the children's behaviour but I said I don't mind. I've come to terms with this so well. And somehow Jacob's reaction made me feel special. In his opinion it's unusual and amazing that both hands are the same way as if I was "meant to be that way". Even though I've always thought that weird hands simply complete the package, I've never thought anything like that, but I definitely will from now on :)

Toinen hauska juttu on se, että Ethan ei pidä mun hiustyylistä. Ei siinä mitään, se onki sille varmaan aika erikoinen, lyhyt ja toisella puolella enemmän kiehkuroita. Mutta erittäin huvittavaa asiasta tekee se, että se jotenki yhdistää mun hiukset mun kotimaahan. Se aina sanoo, et nyt ei olla Suomessa, vaan Britanniassa ja Britanniassa ei kellään oo tällasia hiuksia, joten mun pitäis kasvattaa se xD Lasten logiikka on jotain aivan mahtavaa!

Another funny thing is that Ethan doesn't like my hairstyle. It's all fine, it probably is quite unusual for him, short and more curls on the other side. But what makes it very hilarious is that he somehow connects my hair with my home country. He always says that we're not in Finland now, we're in Britain and in Britain nobody's got a hair like this so I should grow it xD The logic of children is just the best!

Joo ja mähän kirosin sen suihkun. Vessa on korjattu ja toimii, mutta olin eilen suihkussa ja kesken kaiken vesi vaan lakkas tulemasta. Onneks olin loppuvaiheessa, niin käytin kuppia ja hanaa hoitoaineen huuhtomiseen. Innolla huomista odottaen!

Oh and I cursed the shower. The loo is fixed and works but I was showering yesterday and suddenly the water just stopped running. Luckily I was nearly finished so I just used a cup and the tap to rinse the conditioner out. Looking forward to tomorrow!
